Blanky's birthday was last Thursday, he turned 10. His party is scheduled to be this weekend. We don't do big parties, we usually just invite our two or three closest friends over for a sleepover, along with a movie. This time the movie is giong to be Paul Blart: Mall Cop (More on that later).
Every sleepover, we try to pull an all-nighter, but we never have. Usually, this is just because our parents tell us to get to sleep by around twelve, but on the rare occasions they don't, we never have the energy to stay awake. It's just like the cartoons, eyes snap open, then slowly, slowly close, then snap open again, and slowly, slowly close, then snap open...
For those of you who groaned when they heard we were going to watch Mall Cop, hear me out. I know my way around really bad kids movies. For example, Blanky still owes me his soul for making us watch Gremlins 2. When I saw the commercials for Mall Cop, I thought the usual: stupid white male character, entire scenes with whiny vocal soundtracks, over-fixation on potty-humor, etc. And that's probably what it'll be, but hey, if its funny, I'll take it.
Last weekend was Blanky's family birthday (even though it's on Thursday, we have swim in the evening, so we pushed it to Friday). Funny thing was, it turned into a pre-party birthday party. It began when we asked if our two neighborhood friends, Aaron and Aidan, could come over to play. One thing led to another, and they both wound up having a sleepover. Because it wasn't "official", Blanky is going to have 2 parties! Sweet!
