weekly clip

Here is another funny animated short.

There's something about animated shorts that I'm just drawn to, I'm not sure what though.

Blank's Blog

My brother has a blog called "Acoustic-Electric" that I recommend. It is listed under "Personally Related Sites." Its a blog all about guitars and has tons of interesting stuff. My brother is in contact with a legendary luthier (guitar maker) named Linda Manzer, who gives him a golden source of guitar-related information.

Here's a tid-bit of the kind of stuff Blank posts:

Visit his blog for more.

comedy vid

This is Catherine Tate. She's a British comedian who has her own show on BBC. She's more into skits than stand up.

My parents watch her show frequently, but it is often too inappropriate for my brothers and me.

It's not over though (continuation of the "Reporter speaks the truth" post)

However, we have a long way to go. The American youth is still being indoctrinated, bewaaarrre.

Now, I don't have anything against this guy, I think its good that he's expressing his opinion. I just think that he might want to learn a little more about what he's talking about. Also, the rushing soundtrack is a little much, perhaps too large a dose of pathos. But hey, he could turn around, would probably make a good politician too.

Reporter speaks the truth, scares the heck out of the rest of CNBC

I heard about this on the radio. A news reporter for CNBC, Rick Santelli, spoke out about the problems with the current liberal ideology concerning the economy (e.g. spread the wealth, pay for your neighbors, basic socialism).

I love how the CNBC reporters try desperately to downplay him.
"They're like putty in your hands."
"Have you raised any money for Blago?"
"Just get the mob behind you again."
"You can't do it at will can you?"
It's about time for the anti-liberal movement to pick up steam. I mean, look at the people he roused, there are certainly a good number of people out there who get it.
"Well," some of you say, "why don't I hear about them?" Probably because you a) don't listen to conservative talk-radio, and b) the mainstream media is primarily liberal. Still, this video has given me a right jolly skip in my step.

Blanky's B-Day pt. 2

The next morning, we played more video games, and watched about half of Madagascar II again. We had the obligatory, sleepover morning, semi-continental breakfast (i.e. it had bacon and eggs and toast). At around 12:00, we went to see Paul Blart: Mall Cop.

All in all, Mall Cop was a pretty good movie. It took a while to get going, but I liked the idea of an over-weight guy with a good heart completely whooping a bunch of punky, skateboarding, college kid criminals. I was also pleasantly surprised that they did not rely on potty-humor much, if at all. Again, good movie, well worth renting.

We came home, played until about 3:00, then our friends had to leave. Blanky's party was officially over... my parents took a nap, a long, longggg nap.

Blanky's B-Day pt. 1

Our two neighbourhood friends, A1 and A2, came over on Sunday. We started out the way we always start out sleepover/birthday parties: video games. We switched off multiplayer rounds on Call of Duty 4 (COD4). A1 and Blank (best friends) then went to the computer to do Medieval 2: Total War, and Blanky and A2 (uber best friends) went off to play something else. This allowed me to do the COD4 campaign, where I found the final lap top. At aroun--

WARNING: TANGENT INBOUND
For those of you who do not know, in the game Call of Duty 4, there are thirty special laptops hidden throughout the campaign. As you collect more of them, you unlock cheats that edit the game in various ways (e.g. turn the screen black-white, make bad guy's pop into bunches of tires when shot, enable slow-mo gameplay, etc.). I learned that collecting all thirty unlocks the coolest cheat of them all: infinite ammunition. This does not only mean that your ammo reserves are limitless, but you don't even have to reload. An automatic weapon will continue to fire until your finger gets tired. Semi-autos, like pistols, do not become automatic, but will continue to fire as long as you keep clicking the trigger. RPGs become automatic (Note: they will fire faster if you are aiming down the sites rather than firing from the hip, also, it becomes difficult to aim after the first few shots because the smoke blocks your view of what you're shooting at), and I think the grenade launchers on rifles like the AK-47 Grenadier do too. You also have unlimited grenades (this is extraordinary when coupled with the cluster bomb cheat). So far as I've seen however, Claymores and C4 are not affected, but I could be wrong. Still, it is a cheat well worth getting.
TANGENT END

-- around, hmm, I dunno, about eight, we ate dinner (burgers) and opened presents. One of the gifts was Madagascar II, which we watched right after presents.
Madagascar II really wasn't all that bad, in fact, it was pretty funny. I love the lemur, King Julien, along with Mort, the little annoying one. Madagascar II did have some weird bits though, but hey, its a movie for younger kids, I'm fine with that.

We stayed up to play more video games until 12:00, then hit the proverbial sack.

A Day Behind

Blanky's B-day party was Monday, so I was only able to post the weekly clip. Stay tuned for a post-B-day synopsis. It may take a tiny while, school is pretty thick on my schedule right now.

On another belated note: Sunday marked the first week of the Manifesto's existence. My hit counter currently marks 79 hits, although it probably translates into about 55 by me, since it includes my views as well. But still! Thank you for the estimated other 24!

Weekly Clip

This is an old superbowl commercial, I think 2006. It's the funniest football commercial I've seen so far. Note: there were about 20 other related videos also called "The Best/Funniest Commercial Ever".

Friday: Comedy Vid

This guy, Brian Regan, is my favorite comedian so far. He's funny, he's clean, even Dennis Miller thinks he is currently the best stand-up man out there. (this vid is part 1 of the entire routine, here is part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, and part 6)

I've listed his homepage under Sites I take interest in/visit regularly

Step aside Hollywood, this is real

Yesterday evening, I was with my friend B watching the Bourne Identity. If you've already looked at my profile, you know that the Bourne Trilogy is my favorite movie series ever. We've seen it about a billion times, so we tried to pull a MST3K on it. It's great fun analyzing movies, like noticing how they put tears on the back of Jason's sweater to remind you that he had been shot at the beginning of the film.

We also used the slow-mo feature on the fight scenes. The Identity's scenes are a little less realistic than the other two Bournes, but they aren't flashy trash like the bond films: a spin kick? who throws a spin kick? The self-defense moves in the Bournes are generally accurate and reasonably effective. The only fight scene I have real trouble with is the one in Bourne's apartment (watch it here)

The attacking assassin must have really thought things through.
Okay, I got this guy completely unawares in his apartment. He's virtually unarmed, this'll be cinch. Now, I'm a treadstone agent, so I know my way around methods of termination. What'll it be this time? Poison? Strategically placed explosive with cellphone detonator? Silenced sniper rifle from rooftop of building across the street? No, I know the trick, I will swing into the window on a bungee chord, sub-machine gun blazing, and hope he happens to be there when I break the glass.
This guy was thorough.

Yes, I can be Googled

Ever since I started this blog, I've been checking to see if I pop up on web searches. After two days of nothing, I googled: "the benign manifesto". I was one of only five results. The first two were just articles, the only two pages in the world/on the web that had also uttered the phrase "benign manifesto", proving I wasn't the first to use it. The other two were written in obscure languages that had different alphabets. Jeez.

Well, at least I have made a slight grab at internet attention. I consider this my first anchor in the web-world. Okay, maybe not an anchor, but perhaps a a grappling hook, or dental floss tied to a bent paperclip. You get my point.

Birthday

Blanky's birthday was last Thursday, he turned 10. His party is scheduled to be this weekend. We don't do big parties, we usually just invite our two or three closest friends over for a sleepover, along with a movie. This time the movie is giong to be Paul Blart: Mall Cop (More on that later).

Every sleepover, we try to pull an all-nighter, but we never have. Usually, this is just because our parents tell us to get to sleep by around twelve, but on the rare occasions they don't, we never have the energy to stay awake. It's just like the cartoons, eyes snap open, then slowly, slowly close, then snap open again, and slowly, slowly close, then snap open...
For those of you who groaned when they heard we were going to watch Mall Cop, hear me out. I know my way around really bad kids movies. For example, Blanky still owes me his soul for making us watch Gremlins 2. When I saw the commercials for Mall Cop, I thought the usual: stupid white male character, entire scenes with whiny vocal soundtracks, over-fixation on potty-humor, etc. And that's probably what it'll be, but hey, if its funny, I'll take it.

Last weekend was Blanky's family birthday (even though it's on Thursday, we have swim in the evening, so we pushed it to Friday). Funny thing was, it turned into a pre-party birthday party. It began when we asked if our two neighborhood friends, Aaron and Aidan, could come over to play. One thing led to another, and they both wound up having a sleepover. Because it wasn't "official", Blanky is going to have 2 parties! Sweet!

Sorting things out

Sorry I'm not posting much, I'm still formatting the blog. I want to get it in tip-top shape before I start any hard-core posting. I'm hoping to finish by tomorrow.

Monday Weekly clip

This one was a guy's thesis for his Master's Degree in animation. It created quite a stir, and people actually became attached to the little bird. In fact, some created add-ons where he did something like pull a parachute at the end. Interesting what people will spend time on.

My anonymity has a cold

Blanky has some sort of bug in his system. He's laying on Mom's bed as I type. Note: I apologize for refraining to use my/my brothers' real names. For those of you who know me, it must be slightly annoying. The reason I prefer to remain anonymous is obvious enough and I hope you understand. If not, boo-hoo. Just know that Blank is my older-younger brother, and Blanky is my younger-younger brother. Of course, those of you who do not know me may conjure up strange mental images of Blanky as a cross of a young brother and one of Pac-man's ghoulish nemeses. Ah-well.

Actually, my family rarely gets sick. We are generally pretty blessed to be devoid of any sort of colds or fevers. I suspect that Blanky does not have as major an immunity threat as he makes it out to be. You know the deal: "Uuuuuugh, I'm so sick, I can't possibly finish math, I guess I'll have to just lie here helplessly and play my DS."

Welcome

Greetings non-existent readers, this is my first post on my new blog. Right now I'm pretty tired, so I'm not planning on posting much. Hopefully you will find this blog interesting with my future ramblings, but not now. I can't. So tired...
